Some of the most popular career choices of math graduates include primary and secondary education, banking, construction management, insurance, business management, pension analysis, research management, engineering, and computer.

What You’ll Learn

No matter which of the math programs you choose, or whether you pursue a math major or a minor in mathematics, you’ll get a broad-based liberal arts education and expand your understanding of core mathematics concepts like calculus, algebra, and statistics. Curriculum

Course structure

Your program structure will vary depending on exactly which degree you choose to pursue, however, there are several requirements for all mathematics majors.

You will complete 120 credits, 31-40 of which will be maths credits including:

  • MA 221 Calculus I
  • MA 222 Calculus II
  • MA 225 Introduction to Statistics (with permission, you may substitute this for an elective)
  • MA 227C Vision of Geometry

If you choose to undertake a mathematics minor, you will complete 18 mathematics credits distributed as follows:

  • MA 221 Calculus I
  • MA 222 Calculus II
  • MA 225 Introduction to Statistics or MA 226 Inferential Statistics
  • MA 331 Abstract Algebra or MA 335 Differential Equations
  • 6 credits from MA 224 Probability, MA 332 Linear Algebra, MA 333 Calculus III, MA 334 Advanced Calculus, MA 336 Numerical Analysis, any of the alternatives above (e.g. you may choose to take MA 225 and MA 226)
